Tenencia compartida y desarrollo de inteligencia emocional infantil: mediación de calidad coparental
Shared custody and the development of children's emotional intelligence: quality co-parenting mediationContenido principal del artículo
Family dynamics significantly influence the emotional development of children in contexts of separation or divorce. Therefore, this research aimed to analyze the relationship between custody arrangements and the development of emotional intelligence in Peruvian children, considering the mediating role of coparenting quality and the moderating effect of interparental conflict, while controlling for age and socioeconomic status. The study employed a cross-sectional correlational design with a quantitative approach, involving 458 children residing in Peru. Participants completed questionnaires such as the TMMS-24 and the Coparenting Relationship Scale. The results showed that shared custody was associated with higher levels of emotional intelligence (M = 90.15), mediated by coparenting quality and negatively affected by interparental conflict. The study concludes that parental cooperation constitutes a protective mechanism for children's emotional well-being.
