TPACK Model in Higher Education: Theoretical Foundations, Methodological Approaches, and Educational Benefits

Introducción: El conocimiento tecno pedagógico constituye un enfoque relevante para fortalecer las competencias docentes universitarias y favorecer procesos de innovación educativa en entornos digitales. Objetivo: Analizar los fundamentos teóricos, aplicaciones y beneficios del modelo Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) en la educación superior. Metodología: Se desarrolló una revisión sistematizada de la literatura con enfoque cualitativo, siguiendo la metodología PRISMA para las fases de identificación, cribado, elegibilidad e inclusión. La búsqueda se realizó en las bases de datos Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO y ERIC. La muestra final estuvo conformada por 20 artículos publicados entre 2020 y 2026. Se aplicó análisis de contenido para la organización e interpretación de los hallazgos. Resultados: El 65 % de los estudios reportó niveles moderados de conocimiento tecnológico pedagógico en docentes universitarios, mientras que el 70 % evidenció una relación positiva entre la aplicación del modelo TPACK y la calidad de la integración tecnológica en los procesos educativos. Los hallazgos destacan su utilidad para articular conocimiento disciplinar, pedagógico y tecnológico en la práctica docente. Conclusiones: El modelo TPACK constituye un marco teórico y práctico válido para orientar la formación docente universitaria y promover la innovación pedagógica. Su implementación favorece una integración tecnológica más pertinente, contextualizada y alineada con las necesidades de los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje contemporáneos.
Introduction: Technological pedagogical knowledge represents a critical framework for enhancing university teaching competencies and fostering educational innovation within digital environments. Objective: This study aims to analyze the theoretical foundations, applications, and benefits of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) model in higher education. Methodology: A systematic literature review (SLR) with a qualitative approach was conducted, following the PRISMA guidelines for the identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion phases. The search encompassed the Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, and ERIC databases. The final sample consisted of 20 articles published between 2020 and 2026. Content analysis was employed for the organization and interpretation of the findings. Results: Findings indicate that 65% of the studies reported moderate levels of TPACK among university faculty, while 70% evidenced a positive correlation between the application of the TPACK model and the quality of technology integration in educational processes. The results underscore its utility in articulating disciplinary, pedagogical, and technological knowledge within teaching practice. Conclusions: The TPACK model constitutes a valid theoretical and practical framework to guide university teacher training and promote pedagogical innovation. Its implementation facilitates a more relevant, contextualized technology integration aligned with the requirements of contemporary teaching-learning processes.
