Introduction: University curriculum organization constitutes a fundamental component in the education of professionals capable of responding to the demands of the agricultural sector. The alignment of curricular content, educational methodologies, and expected competencies is essential to ensure relevant graduate profiles. Objective: To determine the relationship between the curriculum and professional competency among students of the School of Agronomy at Universidad Nacional Daniel Alcides Carrión, Peru. Methodology: A quantitative study was conducted with a descriptive-correlational scope, using a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 252 students from five campuses. Two Likert-scale questionnaires were administered and validated through expert judgment, demonstrating adequate reliability levels (α = 0.964 and α = 0.898). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. Results: A total of 56.35% of students rated the curriculum as moderately appropriate, while 52.38% demonstrated a competitive level of professional competency. The skills dimension achieved the highest proportion at the high level (64%), whereas methodology recorded the lowest (31%). Strong, positive, and statistically significant correlations were found between the curriculum and professional competency (rho = 0.688; p < 0.001), as well as with knowledge (rho = 0.695), vocational orientation (rho = 0.624), and skills (rho = 0.651), all with p < 0.001. Conclusions: The curriculum is significantly associated with the professional competency of the students evaluated. The findings support the need to redesign the curriculum through active learning methodologies and educational strategies aimed at the comprehensive development of professional knowledge, vocational orientation, and skills.
