Introduction: University life involves everyday decisions related to saving, borrowing, and consumption, which may influence young people's future financial well-being. However, financial competencies do not always receive sufficient attention during university education, making it necessary to identify the effects of educational interventions in this area. Objective: To analyze the effects of financial education on university students' knowledge, attitudes, and financial behavior. Methodology: A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. The search included studies published between 2022 and August 2026 in Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, Dialnet, and Redalyc. After applying the selection criteria, 25 studies were included in the evidence synthesis. Results: The findings showed favorable effects of financial education, particularly on financial knowledge and behavior. Inequalities associated with sociodemographic characteristics persisted, and mediating effects of self-efficacy and self-control were identified. Brief, online, and game-based programs showed measurable improvements in specific competencies, although effects on financial attitudes were less consistent. Conclusions: Financial education contributes to strengthening university students' financial competencies, particularly when it combines conceptual knowledge with practical experiences and ongoing support. Its systematic integration into higher education may promote more informed and responsible financial decision-making.
