La innovación en proyectos territoriales es clave para afrontar desafíos locales, integrando la participación ciudadana que legitima y enriquece las soluciones. En consecuencia, el objetivo fue analizar críticamente la evidencia científica existente sobre la integración sinérgica de la innovación territorial, la participación ciudadana y los principios de sostenibilidad en proyectos de desarrollo territorial. La presente revisión sistemática se desarrolló mediante un enfoque cuantitativo, utilizando una revisión sistemática bajo los lineamientos metodológicos PRISMA 2020, con enfoque cuantitativo-descriptivo y diseño longitudinal retrospectivo (2000-2025). Se incluyeron en el estudio 37 artículos, la cual revela una marcada concentración en publicaciones recientes. Un total de 13 (35.1%) corresponden al bienio 2024-2025, evidenciando un pico de productividad académica postpandémica. Por otra parte, 10 investigaciones (27.0%) se ubican entre 2020-2023, mientras que el período 2010-2019 aporta nueve contribuciones (24.3%). Solo cinco estudios (13.5%) preceden al 2010. Los resultados de la investigación evidencian que la interrelación entre innovación territorial, participación ciudadana y sostenibilidad multidimensional constituye un paradigma fundamental para construir Sistemas Territoriales de Innovación (STI) resilientes e inclusivos.
Innovation in territorial projects is key to addressing local challenges by integrating citizen participation, which legitimizes and enriches solutions. Consequently, the objective was to critically analyze existing scientific evidence on the synergistic integration of territorial innovation, citizen participation, and sustainability principles in territorial development projects. This systematic review employed a quantitative approach, following the PRISMA 2020 methodological guidelines, with a quantitative-descriptive focus and retrospective longitudinal design (2000–2025). The study included 37 articles, revealing a marked concentration in recent publications: 13 (35.1%) correspond to the 2024–2025 biennium, evidencing a post-pandemic peak in academic productivity. Additionally, 10 studies (27.0%) fall within 2020–2023, while the 2010–2019 period contributes nine publications (24.3%). Only five studies (13.5%) predate 2010. The research results demonstrate that the interrelationship between territorial innovation, citizen participation, and multidimensional sustainability constitutes a fundamental paradigm for building resilient and inclusive Territorial Innovation Systems (TIS).
